FTP (or File Transfer Protocol) is a method for transferring files from one place to another, usually over the Internet. Unlike e-mail, larger file sizes can be transmitted. FTP is also not subject to the same delays as e-mail, as e-mail must pass through a number of mail gateways in order to arrive at it's destination. This may take anywhere from a couple of minutes, to several days. With FTP, once a file is sent it has already been transferred to it's destination.
Xpress Press has installed an FTP server as an aide to our customers who have larger files to transmit to us. Generally we would recommend using FTP whenever a file is larger than 2 megabytes in file size.
We provide a link to both a Macintosh and a PC FTP program and we would like to encourage you to try them out.
Please read the section on "Preparing Files for Output" before uploading!
Then proceed to Sending your files using FTP.
